        FL YING HIGH IN PHYSICS
        FLYING HIGH IN PHYSICS
In May, and fortunately prior to the long lockdown period, our Year 11 Physics class had an
exciting excursion to iFly in Penrith for their unit of work on the study of forces and gravity.
iFly offers a safe and thrilling indoor skydiving experience in a large, state-of-the-art glass tunnel,
                           o
which provides a 360 view for spectators.
On their return, students had to prepare a report which highlighted the related laws of physics,
explained how they are related to Newton’s laws of motion, the equations used for calculations,
the frictional forces associated with their flight/motion. Befitting such a photogenic adventure, an
audio/visual presentation was also required as part of their assessment task.
For good measure, estimating and analysing the ‘thrill factor’ was also part of the assessment...
perhaps the easiest section to complete!
