Re: East Allen’s County’s Application for Indiana Regional Stellar Communities Designation
Dear Lieutenant Governor Crouch:
“On behalf of Harlan Community Association President, I would like to express my support of
East Allen’s application to receive designation as an Indiana Regional Stellar Community. We
are excited about the potential opportunities this program can bring to East Allen County.”
The proposed grant monies would be used to replace some of the playground equipment
(some of which has been around for 50+ years), baseball bleachers (which are becoming a
safety issue) and the access/walking track which will help the entire community with health
improvement. These items will tremendously improve our family-oriented community park. It is
the goal of the Harlan Community Association to maintain and grow the park for our
community. Investment in the park will improve the quality of life for our youth. We believe by
providing a place for our children to play, grow and socialize it may give them a better chance in
life. Getting kids away from the TV, electronics, cell phones and out of the house they can
interact with other children and hopefully get them to the park, where they can get more
exercise giving them a healthier life. By giving them a place to go with things to do, and
hopefully it will deter them from getting into things they shouldn’t. A lot of children today have
a tough life and we as a community group feel we should do what we can to improve the park
to help make things easier for these kids. Our children are our future and we need to do what
we can to help make their futures great.
Sincerely,
Sally Lake
Harlan Community Association President
