Dear Lieutenant Governor Crouch,
The New Haven Community Foundation was created with the intent of making a difference in the lives of everyone in the
New Haven area. We believe this is possible by investing in the education of her young people, encouraging the creativity of
her citizens, and making sure her parks remain a source of community pride.
As one of the founders of the Community Foundation - and representing our Board, I would like to express my support of
East Allen’s application to receive designation as an Indiana Regional Stellar Community. We are very excited about all of the
projects in the East Allen plan. They will make significant improvements to the quality of life in our communities.
Our Community Foundation has partnered with the New Haven Parks and Recreation Department on many projects and we
have funded education and art programs. When we built our Community Center, we had a strict budget and couldn't complete
most of the "extras" or provide connectivity to our communities that we hoped for. With funding from the Stellar Grant as well
as funds from the City of New Haven, Allen County Community Investment Board, and the Allen County Commissioners, we
will be able to greatly enhance both the features and accessibility of the Community Center.
In addition to the immediate impact this funding would provide to the Community Center (and our neighboring cities and
towns projects), it will also allow the development of a new Senior Living Community directly connected to our Community
Center. This is an immediate and critical need in our city.
The New Haven Community Foundation is proud of our contributions to the community and look forward to working with the
New Haven Parks Department, City of New Haven, and area non-profits to keep improving quality of place in our area.
