East Allen County Schools Investment
($2,000,000 into the East Allen Career and Tech School)
East Allen County currently has vocational programming offered through their
Associated Builders and Contractors Program. Students enrolling in the nonunion
ABC program for two years graduate from high school with one year toward an
                  apprenticeship.

The system is looking to expand their Career and Technical offerings to include
programs in Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Science, Industrial Maintenance,
Health Science, and Pharmacy Tech. As a first step, they have added an Executive
Director of Career, Technical and Alternative Education this year. Program
development is currently under consideration. Input from local business, industry
and community as well as higher education providers Ivy Tech and Vincennes is
                  being received.

East Allen is in the middle of a ten-year, $87 million-dollar capital improvement
program across the district. As part of this initiative, some existing buildings are
being put into new use. One structure is the Meadowbrook Elementary School.
Located within the Meadowbrook Rural Revival area, this facility is being slated to
become a Career and Tech Center. Rehabilitation of the facility is anticipated within
                  the 2019 – 2022 timeframe.

                  Regional Branding
                  ($150,000)
The intent of this strategy would be to work regionally as well as individually with
communities to develop a brand as well as determine how to articulate this brand
into design elements in the community investment such as signage, materials,
banners, public art and more. This regional brand could then be used to better
market individual communities and the region as a whole. The NewAllen Alliance
has been talking with local partners including Visit Fort Wayne, Arts United, Greater
Fort Wayne, Inc. and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership to develop a
strategy to take the marketing of the region to the next level and make sure that is
represented as a part of the whole of Fort Wayne and Northeast, Indiana. The region
would also be excited to engage with the Indiana Regional Stellar Communities
team as part of this process to ensure the Stellar designation is used to its fullest
                  potential.
