Must Visit Places:
Nishiki Market is Kyoto’s largest traditional food market. You can get a
glimpse of what a traditional shotengai (shopping street) must have looked
like. The market has a history of several centuries, and many stores have been
operated by the same families for generations. You’ll find all the major
ingredients of traditional Kyoto cuisine on display here: Japanese pickles, fresh
tofu, wagashi (Japanese sweets) like Mochi, tea, and fresh fish and shellfish.
