SMEs account for more than 90 percent of businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. The International Trade Centre, a joint agency of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations, found in 2015 that “SMEs in Latin America in particular were measured as outperforming the global average of
developing countries in their ability to compete and connect internationally. The region demonstrates a stronger sense of entrepreneurship compared to other developing countries.”
