MH: If you would share, how many EPs and albums does Rebel Rebel have
out and how can people get a hold of your music?
TH: We have a large catalog available on iTunes or directly from us at
www.rebelrebel.org. We have some really diverse music, depending on what we
were into at the time and what engineer/co-producer we were using. We have a
new release coming out this year that will be available on the digital formats or
on CD from our website.
MH: How does the band decide to create new music? Is there a specific
writing process?
TH: We start off with a riff idea, usually from me or Jet, and then we get into the
rehearsal room and bash it out until we are all happy with it. More often than not,
Jet comes in with a fully fleshed out song, and we all add our flavor to the parts.
We really like jamming loud on song ideas in rehearsal. That gives us a good
idea of how it will go over live, and we like to be tight with the music so we can
go crazy onstage.
MH: What do you think you as individuals and as a band have learned in
your music journey throughout the years?
TH: The main thing is to play with people you love, respect, and have fun with. If
playing music is a hassle, move on to the next thrill. We also have always just
played music that we enjoy, and have looked and acted the way we wanted, even
to our detriment in working with mainstream heavy hitting companies. At the end
of the day, you have to be happy playing music and not expect to be a superstar,
and you have to have your self-respect intact as the music business has some
real predators.
MH: Like every band out there, we all have our favorite stories of the road
to tell. What is Rebel Rebel's most crazy and exciting show experience(s)?
TH: Man, in the early days we had some wild shows, with the fire and breaking
stuff up and the audience moshing and tearing the place up. We fit into the punk
rock scene in Hollywood when we first came out, so shows got wild. But the most
memorable show was probably when we played in Paris, France. A label flow us
over to audition, and we played with a popular French band Undercover Slut. So,
the show was jammed with a couple thousand kids who really enjoyed what we
were doing. It was great arriving for sound check and the kids were lined up
around the block. It was snowing, and we were as tight as we had ever been
musically. It was magical! The great thing is, a couple months after that show, I
received a CD of the show from the sound guy. I didn't know the show was being
recorded, but was glad that it had been, and I decided to release it as our ‘France
Comes Alive’ CD.
