Runaway June’s debut studio album, “Blue
Roses,” was released back in June and charted
on the Billboard Country, Heat, and Indie charts.
They were also nominated for an Academy of
Country Music Award and a CMT Music Award.
Earlier this year, they joined Carrie Underwood’s
arena tour.
The trio effortlessly combined in impressive
harmony as they worked through their set of
notable hits like “Lipstick,” “Buy My Own Drinks,”
and their latest single, “Head over Heels.” The
three work great together musically, with Naomi
Cooke often taking the helms of frontperson, but
with each of the trio still being a vital part of their
formula. The influence of their roots was
apparent, with their sound reminiscent of
traditional country music; at times, some
bluegrass. But their individuality as performers
and great presence on stage make them unique.
They also have an edge that might have been
less present in the songs of yesteryear – fiercely
independent and chanting the anthems of the
powerful women they prove themselves to be.
The result is an awe-inspiring approach to the
music that pays tribute to many of the
groundbreakers of the genre but is also
progressive and modern.
Runaway June arrived for the K-FROG Jingle
Belles show just a couple days after a highly
praised TV appearance singing “Sleigh Ride” on
the CMA Country Christmas special. It was also
recently announced that the Country Radio
Seminar New Faces showcase will feature
Runaway June in February 2020. Country fans
know this is a prestigious honor and has been the
launching point of several stars over its 50-year
history. That’s why artists the likes of Kenny
Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, and
Carrie Underwood are also slated to appear.
The future has much in store for the talented trio
Runaway June. The crowd in Montclair, California
enthusiastically danced to every note and
enjoyed the intimate setting with these stars in the
making.
