MW: Between the therapy sessions, do you mean?
BD: I didn't write much at all while I was actually in therapy. The best stuff came
afterwards.
MW: The Crowdfunding campaign went well. How has the album been received?
BD: It's been great. Yeah, we had a sell-out show in our hometown to celebrate the
launch and a ton of radio play on BBC Introducing and other radio stations across the
country, podcasts, and features in online magazines. We booked a tour to promote it
next month, but obviously that hasn't worked out with this whole pandemic thing. The
crowdfunding campaign really blew us away! I was worried beforehand because I hadn't
felt like I'd been on top of things in terms of pushing the band, due to having to focus on
the therapy I'd been working through. I worried we'd lost momentum and our fans
wouldn't be interested anymore. I decided to be brave though, and be honest, for the first
time about why I'd taken a break and why I'd chosen now to come back to it. My story
seemed to really resonate with people because we met our target in just three days and
ended up reaching 207% by the end. The support felt overwhelming and it spurred us on
to make the best record we could!
MW: Sounds like people are really getting behind the band and what you're doing.
You had interest from across the globe, didn't you?
BD: Yes, people from Japan, Sweden, and America, amongst others. I think they
discovered us on the Kickstarter platform or through some Facebook groups we'd posted
on.
MW: Do they still keep in touch or follow your progress?
BD: They've followed us on our platforms. So, they know what we're up to, yeah. It's
exciting to see people across the world enjoying our tracks.
MW: Yep, indeed. Thanks for your time, Bernadette. Good luck!
