Then Chaka returned. Without missing a beat,
she went into my personal favorite song of the
night, “My Funny Valentine.” She sang that song
so smoothly and quite wonderfully! But the
highlight was when I heard Grandmaster Melle
Mel’s voice over the P.A. “I Feel For You” made
the amphitheater explode in cheers and
applause. Everyone was standing on their feet,
busting out their old school dance moves. Chaka
ended the night with another Rufus/Chaka Khan
song, “Ain't Nobody.” I was thinking she would do
an encore, but she and her band bowed and said
goodnight. It was 10:30 p.m. and the
concertgoers crowded to get out…all at once.

Such an amazing treat to hear two iconic women.
