Live music is coming back!

I’m so thrilled to see live music making a return in many
venues and performance arenas across the country.
As ION Indie Magazine prides itself on doing its own

photography and we are fortunate to have such

Kiki Plesha talented photojournalists on staff, it’s a great feeling to
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF be “back in the pits” – PHOTO pits, that is!

For this edition, ION was on hand to photograph iconic

artists Chaka Khan and Sheila E. at AVA Amphitheater
in Tucson, c/o Senior Photojournalist Marty Haviik. We
also had “boots on the ground” to capture some of
the incredible roster of talent at Milwaukee’s
Summerfest 2021 – a big “thank you” to contributing
photojournalist Eddy Schneider III! Additionally, ION’s
own dynamic duo, Erika and Dan Johnson, took their
act “on the road” -- all the way to Tampa! They
brought back a compelling report and enthralling live
photography of Staind and founding frontman Aaron
Lewis at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. Check
out the epic photography inside these pages!

We are featuring the sultry and mega talented
Chantelle Barry in this issue. Tim Board did the honors
with the interesting in-depth interview with Ms. Barry.

The song streaming with this Editor’s Letter is one of my
favorites by bodacious blues artist Forrest McDonald,
“Certified Blue.” Those are the voracious vocals of
