When we talk about love, we are talking about the one
and only Madame Patti LaBelle. The unmatchable
Ms. Patti LaBelle performed at the AVA Amphitheater
in Tucson. She is definitely a timeless masterpiece
and she effortlessly performed chart-topping hit after
hit after hit, including "Somebody Loves You, Baby,”
"If You Ask Me To,” "New Attitude,” "Somewhere Over
The Rainbow,” "On My Own,” "You Are My Friend,”
and one of my favorites, "Tennessee Whiskey,"
originally written and recorded by David Allan Coe.
Born Patricia Louise Holte she is best known as Patti
LaBelle. She began her career in the early 1960s as
lead singer and front woman of the vocal group Patti
LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's
name change to LaBelle in the 1970s, they released
the popular disco song "Lady Marmalade," which was
later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. As a
result, the group became the first African-American
vocal group to land the cover of Rolling
Stone magazine and the first pop group to play at
the Metropolitan Opera House. In a career that has
spanned seven decades, she has sold more than 50
million records worldwide. LaBelle has been inducted
into The Grammy Hall of Fame, The Hollywood Walk
of Fame, and The Apollo Theater Hall of Fame.
