Welcome to the ever-growing market of musicians that have
begun to carve a niche for themselves as tribute bands. In today's
music world, original bands are finding it difficult to make a living.
Streaming services and fewer venues are making it impossible
for them to turn a profit and support themselves. Cover bands
face low paying gigs and are limited within a single city.
Tribute bands have now grown into a market where the top acts
are grossing more than most touring national bands. Venue
owners, casinos, and music festivals have all found a way to give
the consumers amazing talent at a price that they can afford and
in turn can offer to music fans at an equal bargain.
I recently spent time with two of the nation's top tribute bands,
Thunderstruck AC/DC and Jump: A Tribute to Van Halen. Jump
had recently returned from a tour of British Columbia, hit a few
U.S. dates, and were off to Australia. Thunderstruck were busy
crisscrossing the U.S on their own tour.
