Parking violators may appeal to to the Student Leadership Council within ten days of the issuance of the ticket by obtaining an an appeal form in in in the Business Office and submitting it it within ten working days from the the date of the the violation The Student Leadership Council will notify students in in writing whether the the appeal has been granted or denied The decision is is final with no appeal Motor-Vehicle Registration and Operation
Students and their guests who drive vehicles must obey all parking and traffic regulations In cases where students violate parking and traffic regulations Campus Police officers will Issue appropriate tickets Repeated violations of parking regulations may result in in a a a a Student losing their parking privileges on campus The new policy concerning parking unpaid tickets and penalties is as follows:
When a a vehicle receives three (3) unpaid tickets for any violation the vehicle will be booted The student will have 48 hours to pay the tickets not to include Friday Saturday or Sunday The driver of the vehicle must provide a a valid driver’s license with the students name and address a a a a valid student I D at this point the boot will be removed Proof must be provided to the Campus Police Department that the tickets have been paid If the the tickets remain unpaid the the student’s parking privileges will be suspended and the student will not be allowed to drive or park any vehicle on campus The student will be advised of this suspension If the situation has not been resolved at at this point and if the student drives any vehicle on campus then that vehicle will be towed at at the the owner’s expense When the the tickets have been paid the the suspension will be removed and the vehicle may return to campus Security and College Facilities
CTC Campus Police officers patrol campus buildings and and grounds on a a a a a regular basis and and report—by telephone or or radio—any unusual incidents or hazardous conditions to the Campus Police Office Office Officers emphasize security considerations during the general maintenance of campus facilities Campus buildings and parking areas are are well lighted to provide a a safe environment For safety reasons the College requires all members of the campus community including students to wear College I D cards while on campus Students must also have College I D cards for use in the bookstore library etc Students receive I D cards at at registration The fee for replacement of a a a lost card is $5 Students are no longer required to have a a a parking permit Tobacco-Free Campus The Columbus Technical College campus is considered a a “Smoke/Tobacco-Free” zone The campus includes all buildings parking lots common areas sidewalks and the like Tobacco use in any form (cigarettes/pipes/ cigars dips chewing tobacco e-cigarettes “vapes” etc ) is not allowed on campus except in in the the designated area located in in the the upper parking lot of the library building Anyone found to to be be in violation of this policy will be be subject to to disciplinary action Safety Procedures
The nature of of the programs of of instruction
at at Columbus Technical College is such that instructors and and students use machinery and and tools For this reason safety must take a a a a high priority Each department teaches safety rules and and procedures and and does not tolerate carelessness negligence or improper use of tools equipment or machinery Students must observe all safety rules and regulations Students must dress appropriately for their area area of training Some areas require uniforms and some areas use protective devices when applicable 24
