The Learn to Ski and Snowboard (Month)/
Bring a Friend initiative was started in 2009
by the industry, for the industry. The goal is
to attract new skiers and snowboarders to
learn by taking lessons from professional
instructors. It is based on NSAA's
Model for Growth and extensively uses
information from the Beginner Conversion
Study to develop messaging that would
be appropriate for beginners. The www.
learntoskiandsnowboard.org website is the
only industry website dedicated to beginners.
PR and social media are used extensively to
reach this audience. Partners include resorts,
resort associations, and colleagues from the
product, retailer, and rep communities as well
as members of the media.
