Sang Nila Utama and Singa
Story has it that once upon a time a Srivijayan Prince called Sang
Nila Utama set upon a sea voyage to find a land for his new
kingdom. He took his journey into the surrounding water and
during his mission the Prince spotted and smitten by a sight of
an island with beautiful beach and glittering white sand. On the
island, he encountered a strange animal which was thought to
be a lion. It had never been found again but the Prince took it as
a good omen that he had found what he was looking for thus
Singapura or Lion City was founded. This design captures the
historical moment when the Prince encountered the lion.
