We saw more cows, burros, and sheep, not to mention all the ducks and chickens in
this rural area. The people have built low triangular huts for their seed potatoes and
also small “vacation” huts so that they can stay out in the patches a couple of days to
work in the fields rather than having to walk out every single day. Stan told us that
they can grow just about anything they want other than watermelons such as lettuce,
broccoli, beans, asparagus, cabbages, greens, carrots and of course potatoes! We
walked through the fields to an overlook down to the sea where Stan pointed out
Runaway Cove and the Rocks area. He said the people go to those places in the
summer for swimming and fishing.
