We stayed out about an hour but then gave up. Gordon got us up a
little later because he thought the display might be "charging" up but it
stayed the same. We did take advantage of the warming hut (yurt) but
were disappointed when the stove was not even warm. But inside we
were out of the wind which was pretty cutting when it blew by!

Gordon was not exactly jubilant with what we saw that 2 night, but it
was clear that he was very much relieved. At least, he could remind us
that we had actually seen the aurora borealis even if it was just "basic."
Must be hard on a group leader if the clients never see any aurora
display at all.
CHENA HOTSPRINGS RESORT
SECOND STOP: We were picked up by our van the next day for the
drive to our home base for the next three nights—The Chena Hot
Springs Lodge about another hour further northeast.
