Page 102 - MY STORY
P. 102
Our “trainers” were not technical people which at least
gave us the opportunity to try out our pitch on an
appropriate audience. If I thought presenting this new
technology material to a knowledgeable audience was
going to take a lot of preparation and rehearsal, I could
not begin to imagine how I would do this in the 10-minute
window – but that was the rule of engagement, and our
“trainers” would not allow complaint or deviation from
the rules.
This was really hard and took a tremendous amount of
thinking, parsing, and almost a word-for-word review of
the pitch along with “visioneering” the supporting
artwork to enable the audience to picture the theory and
results indelibly. In looking back, this was probably the
most difficult presentation I’d ever assembled — taking
about a week of work to get it mastered. But master it we
did, and the presentation went off as scheduled, while at
the same time, getting us high scores from the
Government reviewers. I never had to do this again,
thank goodness – I really liked to talk.
