P. 3
INTRODUCTION
Why the hell would anyone want to read a book or even
some short vignettes about the life of an engineer!? I
figure that most the population would willingly read (or
talk) about sports, politics, kids, cars, investments,
neighborhood indiscretions, family gossip, weather,
landscaping, painting walls, music, crime rate, bathroom
remodeling — or any subject rather than the probably
“boring” professional life of an engineer. Boring is in
“quotations ” because that is how I perceive the faraway
look I see in the eyes of anyone I try to engage in this
subject.
By definition, engineers must be boring because - “all
they think about are inanimate objects, their shape and
functionality, and the mathematics or rigorous thinking
that goes into their evolution and deployment.” Of course,
this depiction is utterly incorrect, especially when
technical challenges are coupled with the interactions with
bosses, peers, subordinates, and customers. It becomes a
very rich tapestry indeed.
What I have now is time – time to think and remember
some of the moments in my professional and personal life
