The five kingdoms
By BRANDON MULL
Cole Randolph was just trying to have fun with his friends on Halloween (and maybe know Jena
Hunt a little better). But when a haunted house turns out to be a portal to something much
stranger, Cole finds himself on an incredible adventure. When he sees his friends kidnapped
away to a mysterious place, he runs after them – and ends up to the “Outskirts”.
The “Outskirts” are made of five kingdoms that lie between dreaming and wakefulness,
imagination and reality, life and death. It’s an in-between place. Some people are born there,
other find their way there from our world or from another. And when someone comes to the
“Outskirts”, it’s very difficult to leave…
