Chapter 32—The biography of Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is his own martial arts, blending,
Wingchun, Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo. His is not a traditional
Chinese martial art.
My name is Bruce Lee, I was born in San Francisco and grew up
in Hong Kong. I am mainly speaking Cantonese and English,
not Mandarin. My real name is Li ZhenFan. It is a complicated
word, no one uses it, and the intuition of many Chinese people
can be understood as a foreigner. It means defeating invading
foreigners 2 or letting foreigners thrive. So, in my life, I always
wanted to know what the real meaning of my name means.
These two meanings are contradictory, which makes me very
confused. Bruce Lee is a well-known name. Under the influence
of my name, I started fighting when I was young, and I didn't
have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. So I
played some fights. In order to win more battles, I became a
student of Ye Wen/ Ip Man. In a very short time, my father
found out. He said to me: "You can't learn martial arts from Ye
Wen/ Ip Man. Your fight will damage the reputation of our
family. Promise me, you don't learn martial arts. Promise me,
you don't fight fight" Then, I made my promise. I went to the
position of Master Ye Wen. I told him, "Ip Man Master, I
promised my father not to fight, not to learn martial arts, so this
lesson is the last lesson between you and me. Can you tell me
about Wingchun's advanced technology?" Ye Wen/Ip Man said,
" Give me 10 minutes, I will teach you skills. "After 10 minutes,
Master Ye Wen taught me the Sun character punch. Later, Ye

bridge hand of Wing Chun. Then I asked Ye Wen, "Master, you
