ENERGY PRODUCTION, STORAGE AND CONTROL
Smappee Plus
home energy monitor
Smappee Plus measures real-time energy use from household appliances,
offering valuable insights into a homeowner’s energy use and production.
Smappee Plus is the only energy monitor that combines load
disaggregation with submetering technology to provide real-time data
also for appliances with variable output—such as air conditioning, electric
vehicles or heat pumps.
Consumers can see how much energy a device uses and its daily,
monthly or annual energy costs. Consequentially, owners can make
informed decisions on their energy consumption (e.g., when to
buy a more energy-efficient fridge) and act to save on energy costs
and efficiency.
Smappee Plus is also the only energy monitor that can be
programmed as an “energy traffic controller” in the home. The product
can automatically steer excess energy production, such as solar
power, to appliances in order of preference, further increasing a
homeowner’s energy efficiency and cost savings. They can choose
from numerous “recipes” that automate certain actions. For example, Because of this energy traffic controller function, Smappee Plus also

SolarEdge HD-Wave inverter with integrated EV charger
Homeowners have a new way to become more energy independent, decrease
their electricity costs and reduce their carbon footprint. It can save builders
a few bucks, too.
SolarEdge’s HD-Wave inverter-integrated electric vehicle (EV) powers electric
vehicles by supplementing grid power with photovoltaic (PV) power via a single
inverter. The HD-Wave inverter with an integrated EV charger also provides existing
management and monitoring of solar production, and enables EV charging from a
single inverter and dashboard. The combined solution offers considerable cost
savings on both hardware and labor by eliminating the need for an additional conduit,
wiring and breaker installation. The solution also eliminates the need for an additional
dedicated circuit breaker, which saves space and, potentially, a main distribution
panel upgrade.
Based on patent-pending technology, the EV charger is embedded into SolarEdge’s
HD-Wave inverter and leverages its solar boost mode. This mode utilizes the grid and
PV to charge at 9.6 kW (40 amp) Level 2 charging, which is up to six times faster than
standard Level 1 charging. If PV is not available, the inverter-integrated EV charger will
use grid power to charge at 7.6 kW (32 amp) Level 2 charging, which is up to five
times faster than standard Level 1 charging.
With a 12-year warranty, the inverter-integrated EV charger also offers potential
future operating modes, such as demand-response and charging at off-peak hours to
optimize Time-of-Use (TOU) rates.
