A Peek at
Peak Seasons
Apples: Washington is still in the peak
of its red and Golden delicious, Gala,
and Granny-smith apple seasons.
Bell Peppers (Eastern): Green Pepper
will move into peak season next week
if the rain over the next few days does
not hurt crops.
Cucumbers (Eastern): Next week will
be peak volume in Georgia for cucum-
bers.
Pears: Washington is still in the peak
of its D’anjou pear season.
Potatoes (colored): North, Florida and
Bakersfield, California are in the peak
Truckin’ Along of their colored potato seasons.
California trucks have tightened up considerably since we have transitioned up
to Salinas from Yuma. WA Apple trucks are steady as well. Idaho potato/onion
trucks remain adequate. The National Average for diesel remained steady from Transitions &
last week and is currently at 2.539 per gallon. An increase of .182 from this time Temperatures
last year. California prices remained steady as well and are currently at 2.912
per gallon. Crude oil remained steady and is currently at 51.37 per barrel.
Bell Peppers (Eastern): We are
loading more product in Georgia as
volume picks up.
Berries (Blackberries): Salinas / Wat-
sonville will start this week and gradu-
ally increase over the next 2-3 weeks.
Berries (Blueberries): New Central
Valley California fruit is coming on
strong this week.
Berries (Raspberries): Salinas / Wat-
sonville production has started and will
continue to increase over the next 2-3
weeks.
Celery: Salinas celery will be starting
around the last week of May to the first
week of June. Good volume supplies
are expected about mid to late June.
Cucumbers (Eastern): We are moving
into Georgia.
Squash (Western): Italian and yellow
squash are finishing in Nogales Az.
and just getting started in Santa Maria
Ca. Cool coastal weather is providing a
very slow start.
