ARTICLE 4
OFFICERS
Section 1 Formation of Officers
The officers of the Organization shall consist of a President, Executive Vice President, a Vice
President from each affiliated Local, Chaplain, Secretary-Treasurer, Legislative Chairperson,
and three (3) Trustees. Each Local shall be limited to two principal officers with the exception of
a Local Vice President, Chaplain, Legislative Chairperson and one Trustee, with no Local
holding more than one Trustee position. Principal Officers shall be defined as President,
Executive Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer.
Section 2 Terms of Office
The President, Legislative Chairperson and Chaplain shall be elected by the duly accredited
delegates at the Convention on the odd number years. The Executive Vice President and
Secretary-treasurer shall be elected on the even numbered years. A one-year Trustee, a two-
year Trustee, and a three-year Trustee shall be elected at the first Convention. Thereafter, a
three-year Trustee shall be elected at each Convention. The Sergeant-at-Arms shall be
appointed by the President at each Convention. The officers shall hold office for their term or
until their successors are elected and installed. In a contested election, a majority vote on a
written ballot shall be necessary to elect.
Section 3 Nominations
Nominations for office at Convention shall be held on the first day of business as the last order
of business. Voting shall be the last order of business prior to adjournment on the last day of
Convention. Nominations may be taken from the floor of the Convention or from the Nominating
Committee. Nominations shall cease on the first day of business and shall not be reopened for
any reason. All ballots shall include a space for write-in candidates. In the event that only one
candidate is nominated for any office, a motion to elect by acclamation shall be in order.
