The Best Years of My Life

Good things do come out of bad, and shortly after my divorce was finalized,

I met Garry. Garry is a die-hard New Yorker, born and raised in New York,

he grew up playing sports in Central Park. Garry was a quarterback in high
school. He enjoyed playing football, baseball and basketball. In college he

played baseball - always an adventurer at heart. He studied in Mexico and

               Chicago during his college years.

His story is amazing in that he grew up relatively poor. His father was a

pattern maker and worked two jobs. He later answered an ad, and from
that one ad he would go on to work and build it into what you know today

as Liz Claiborne. Garry’s dad had to borrow money from relatives to get the

business off the ground, but he did and the rest is history.

After working in the family business for quite some time, Garry decided he

wanted to be a doctor, but didn't take the leap until he was 35.

I thought there was great irony in meeting Garry. Here I am with this

clothing company, and I meet this man at a friend's birthday party who
ends up being part of the Liz Claiborne family. Garry and I were both in
