The workshop was attended by Industry Development Of ce
representatives, which is part of ADDED, as well as
representatives of the Education and Knowledge Department,
the Ministry of Economy, the Urban Planning and
Municipalities Department, and Abu Dhabi Ports, along with
representatives of private sector companies concerned with
exports.
The workshop, moderated by Dr. Belqassem Al Abbas from the
Arab Institute for Planning in Kuwait, discussed a range of
issues, such as development, the importance of promoting
exports and investments and related development policies, as
well as an analysis of the global output value chains,
commodity space analysis, and developing export
development strategies.
Dr. Adeeb A , Director of the Foreign Trade and Exports
Support Administration at ADDED, said that the workshop is
part of series of activities and seminars organised by the
department, which aim to provide incentives and assistance
for the private sector, to increase Abu Dhabi's level of exports
to other countries by encouraging non-oil exports, with the
aim of achieving the goals of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision
2030 of increasing the value of the emirate's non-oil exports to
11 percent of its GDP.
He added that the participants of the rst session of the
workshop's rst day discussed the major economic and
development characteristics of the emirate's export and
investment sector, as well as its level of income and the
economic growth and role of trade in the UAE's development,
in order to highlight the structural characteristics that should
be considered, while drafting a development strategy for
encouraging investments and exports.
He went on to say that the second and third sessions
addressed the issue of how to draft this development strategy,
and the policies of diversifying exports by developing the local
