  DESIGN RESEARCH CHECKLIST
                       • Design for all disabilities
• Design for the worse case scenario – anything can be a hazard
• Design for both hypersensitive and hyposensitive individuals
• Have a balance of natural and artificial light
• Keep the design simplistic and open
• Consider spatial organization and legibility of space
• Be aware of how color can affect the atmosphere and the users of a space
• Colors such as neutrals, blues or greens have calming properties
• Create a threshold or entrance to allow users with cognitive disabilities to adjust to their surrounds
• Create clear, and not distracting sightlines throughout the space
• Provide areas of refugee or quiet spaces for individuals to retreat to
• Consider acoustical control and how materials can aide in sound absorption
