Commission on
DISABILITY
The Commission on Disability met eight times during
2024. Meeting were held in-person with
a Zoom option.
The Town Manager appointed several new members to the
Commission, resulting in having 8 members. The
Commission spent time discussing programming, events,
and surveys for 2025.
The town was notified it received a planning grant
through the state’s Municipal ADA Improvement
Grant for FY24 to update the town’s ADA
Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan, which has not
been updated since the 1990s. Having these updated
documents in place will assist the town in obtaining
grant funding for projects in the future.
The Commission thanks Det. Timothy Needham, the
Commission’s police department liaison, for his service on
the Commission and wishes him well in retirement.

The Commission voted to send a letter of support for
a grant to repair a culvert at the Pratt Farm ADA
trail. The Town received a Mass Trails Grant and

to the Conservation Commission to extend the

the grant.

The Commission discussed violations of handicapped
parking in town and best ways to encourage

The Commission, with the facilities manager and
grant writer, discussed potential projects for future

grants, including adding automatic door openers at
town hall, closed captioning for televised public

The Commission discussed the new playground
at Peirce Playground, which includes a lat,
Alexis stable ground and four pieces of accessible
playground equipment.
