COMMITTEE
In Fall 2024 the CPC received and studied 9 applications
to be considered for FY26 CPA funding.
The Committee thanks all our members for their
dedication and commitment, our applicants and project
managers for their work and passion for preservation,
our recording secretary Icy Bradley, and the state
Community Preservation Coalition for its frequent
assistance throughout the year.

The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) respectfully
submits this report to the Town of Middleborough for the year
ending December 31, 2024.
Kimberly The Middleborough CPC reviews and votes on applications in
four eligible funding categories: open space, recreation,
Rich historic preservation, and community housing.

The CPC brought the following applications for approval by
the Annual Town Meeting in April 2024. All were approved:
Josephine Ruthwicz Josephine Ruthwicz, Secretary / At-Large Member
• $770,000 to acquire 217 acres of open space on and of
Plymouth, Vernon, and Pleasant streets, with frontage on
the Taunton River, known as the Bertarelli property. To
Annemarie Jacobson Annemarie Jacobson, Treasurer / At-Large Member
complete the acquisition, the Town will borrow the balance
of the $2.2 million purchase price plus expenses, to be
reimbursed by a grant from the state Department of
Conservation and Recreation. This article replaces a
Judy Bigelow-Costa Judy Bigelow-Costa, Park Commission Representative
previous CPA appropriation that was contingent on a state
Landscape Partnership Grant.
• $15,000 to the Friends of Middleborough Cemeteries for
Tracie Craig-McGee Tracie Craig-McGee, Planning Board Representative
restoration of damaged historic headstones at the
Reed-Peirce and Tack Cemeteries.
• $50,000 for replacing roofs to preserve ten senior housing
Bart Devine
Bart Devine, Conservation Commission Representative
units in two buildings at 21 and 25 Maddigan Way, owned by
the Middleborough Housing Authority.
• $50,000 for a first-time homebuyers assistance project,
managed by the Town’s Planning and Economic
Laurene Gerrior Laurene Gerrior, Historical Commission Representative
Development Department.
• $75,000 for the creation of lacrosse fields and
improvements to the West Side Park and Playground on
Erin Rowe
Erin Rowe, At-Large Member
West End Avenue.
