CONSERVATION
Commission
Thank you to the Middleborough High School students for
building the kiosk, and Joe and Brandon Arruda from
Bridgewater-Raynham Sand & Stone (BRS) for plowing the
field, removing brush from the barns, and adding material
on the trails to fill in the ruts. We also hired BRS to construct
the parking lot and Yankee Woodcarvers to make the
carved sign. The Commission was fortunate to have intern
Shayla Flaherty, from Bridgewater State University, assist
staf make a trail map, brochure, and story map for Picone
and Oliver Estate Conservation Lands.
Additional noteworthy items include highly successful
Herring festival activities and games, the creation of a
new brochure of conservation properties with walkable
trails, a new street sign installed at the Morgan property,
and a new hunting policy for the conservation lands.
Melissa Guimont resigned from the Commission this
year. The Commission is very grateful for her
contribution of service to the Community and the
Commission. The Commission would like to thank
Melissa Guimont for always being willing to donate her
time researching native birds, volunteering at the
Middleborough High School to discuss birds and
invasive species to the YESS Club, and coming up with
creative ideas for the Herring Festivals.
