PERMANENT
CABLE COMMITTEE
PERMANENT CABLE COMMITTEE
Karen Foye, the Cable Access Director at MCCAM,
reports to the Permanent Cable Committee (PCC) and
makes recommendations to the committee for
projects and purchases. Adam Pelletier, the Video
Production Instructor at Middleborough High School
and member of the Permanent Cable Committee, also
submits requests to the PCC for equipment and access
projects as they relate to the Education Channel. The
Permenent Cable Committee is dedicated to
preserving the transparency of town government and
being a historical record of public events and meetings
that happen in town. Current members of the PCC
have served on the committee for a cumulative xx
years. There are currently 3 open seats.
The PCC has been working with Karen Foye to expand
and grow the MCCAM facility. They have been able to
create a resource for the community to have access to
state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that are
available at no cost to users. Any Middleborough
resident or Middleborough non-profit organization
are welcome to use the facility and equipment (once
approval and training are complete).
FUNDING
100% of funding for MCCAM staf, equipment and
operations comes from Comcast and Verizon Cable
TV subscribers in Middleborough. With negotiations
being finalized in mid-2023, MCCAM now receives
5% franchise fee from both Comcast and Verizon up
from the previous 2.5% that MCCAM has received the
past 10-13 years. The Permanent Cable Committee
also negotiated Capital funding for MCCAM. A
portion of the Comcast and Verizon franchise fees
and capital are also used to provide equipment for
Middleborough Education Television (MET). MET
oversees the Education Channel and is a great asset
to our community.
