The Pupil Personnel Services Department is committed to the provision of quality education for all students. We
ofer comprehensive support services and programs in all of our schools to help students achieve their
educational goals. Committed and professional staf, knowledgeable and approachable administration, and
introspective analysis of special education help make your child's experience positive and productive. In an efort
to ensure targeted, specific focus to the department, there are two subdivisions of Pupil Personnel Services:
The Special Education Department oversees all in- and out- of- district special education matters,
as well as school nursing.
The Ofice of Student Services oversees the 504 process, homelessness, foster care and civil rights
protocols for the district.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Middleborough Special Education Parent Advisory
Council (SEPAC)
The Special Education Director is a member of the
Middleborough Special Education Parent Advisory
Council, SEPAC. SEPAC is an organization that works in
consultation with the Pupil Personnel Services
Department and collaborates with the Department on
decisions that impact special education. Through this
collaboration, many opportunities for family support,
resources, and community connections are ofered.
The Special Education Director reviewed families’
rights with the SEPAC in an event in October 2024.
Additional meetings with the Director have included a
presentation of the DESE New IEP format and Tiered
Focused Monitoring Update in January 2025. SEPAC
has also hosted multiple family support meetings and
events for students including a holiday sensory night
and valentine’s paint night.
Special Education
The Special Education Department continues to
support our students to make academic, social, and
behavioral gains by providing high quality, specially
designed instruction. The Department has
recognized the increase in special education referrals
within the last several years and has worked closely
with the Curriculum and Student Services
Departments to strengthen our Tier 1 and Tier 2
practices and interventions in an efort to close gaps
in learning prior to requiring special education
intervention. Additionally, the Special Education
Department has targeted professional development
to improve specially designed instruction for special
education students as well as strengthening overall
IEP development.
