Many changes occurred at the Gas & Electric Department
during 2024, but with change comes opportunity. The
department saw the retirement of General Manager
Jackie Crowley ater twelve years as GM and almost
twenty years in total as well as the retirements of two
long-term Gas Division managers, Dave Shaw and Rick
Labossiere. The General Manager Search Committee
interviewed several candidates to replace Jackie and Ken
Stone was promoted to General Manager in June 2024.
Dave Bernat and Danielle Hayes were promoted
to Gas Division Managers in early 2024 to replace the
recent retirees. The department will certainly miss
their knowledge and leadership and wish them all well
in their retirements!
redundancy and for future electric load growth in the territory.
The plan is to connect the new station to existing Eversource
115kV lines on Pine Street. Finals designs and equipment
bids will occur in 2025 with construction on the station to begin
in 2026.
The Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Yard also saw many changes as
well in 2024. To become compliant with new regulations, the
Gas Division staf had to make many modifications to the yard.
This included the installation of new conduit, new wiring, new
explosion proof electrical boxes, a new speaker system, new
cameras, new infrared detectors, and modifications to the gas
trim heater.
The planned new building at the Electric Division also
saw its share of changes. In June, the team decided to
change the building design and not incorporate the
customer service staf into the plans for the new building.
The team decided that it was better to leave customer
service at the South Main Street location for easier
customer access. This change caused major design
changes to the building as well as a reduction in square
footage. The building construction was delayed due to
the design changes, and construction is now planned to
begin in the spring of 2025.
2025 will be an exciting year for the Gas & Electric department,
with many exciting projects planned to begin construction.

In conjunction with the new building, the department is
also planning to renovate the customer service lobby at
the Main Street Admin building to better improve safety
and security for the staf. There will be a new wall and
security door added, a new secure payment window, a
new ADA compliant bathroom and a small conference
room added. These renovations are scheduled to begin
in summer 2025 and the lobby will be closed to customers
during the renovations.
