BUILDING & GROUNDS
As stewards of this historic and vital community asset, we
are committed to a welcoming, accessible, and inspiring
public space where residents can meet, attend events and
programs, and continue a journey of lifelong learning.
Many significant improvements to our Library marked the
year 2024:
• The installation of hand dryers in the basement and 1st
loor bathrooms;
• The re-carpeting of the 1st-loor foyer of the Library;
• The removal of trees from the rear of the Library;
• The painting of the children’s room and the Peirce Street
entrance;
• The reupholstery of the Library’s lounge chairs and
Trustees’ historic chairs;
• The seal coating of the parking spaces of the Library;
• The replacement of our computer tables and chairs;
• The installation of surge protection on the main electrical
panel;
• The addition of eight programming cabinets;
• And the conversion of lighting to LED bulbs.
Working with BLW Engineers, the Library has been
finalizing the engineering for its HVAC Replacement. We

hope to have the HVAC system replaced starting in 2025. We
extremely appreciate the support of the Town Manager, the
Town’s Facility Manager, the Capital Committee, the Finance
Committee, and the Select Board to get this project moving.
A bid for the replacement of several windows in
the 1993 portion of the Library was awarded and will be
completed in

The Middleborough Public Library again
secured a $2,500 grant from the
Massachusetts Cultural Council to
digitize donated editions of the
Middleborough Gazette from the 1870s.
The Boston Public Library (BPL)
continued to assist with digitizing our
Special Collections. The digitized records
are available 24/7 from the Library’s
website.
