Weights & Measures
This is my 39th report as Sealer of Weights & Measures.
The Sealer of Weights and Measures inspects and tests
all devices for weight, volume, and other linear
measurements. Devices that are not accurate are either
calibrated, repaired, or put out of service.
On the next page is a complete table of all the measuring
devices that were (A) adjusted, (S) sealed, (N) not sealed,
and (C) condemned for the calendar year of 2024.
I would like to thank everyone in the Ofices of the Town
Manager, Treasurer, Clerk, DPW, Fire Dept., Police Dept.,
and the IT Dept. for assisting me in my duties.
During the year, 500 weighing and measuring devices
were inspected. Of this number, twenty-two were
adjusted, 489 were sealed, nine were not sealed, and
two were condemned.
Sealing fees in the amount of $5,985 were collected and
turned in to the Town Treasurer.

During scanning tests, four hundred items were checked
for price accuracy in various convenient stores,
supermarkets, and one hardware store. To comply with
the scanning laws, 98% of scanned items must be
accurate; if not, corrections must be made and another
test must be passed.
