Fáilte ón gCathaoirleach
Ar son Coiste Camogaiochta an Chlair cuirim fíor fáilte roimh gach éinne go dtí ár gCluichí
Cheannais. Mar is gnath, taimid ag suil le cluichi sportuil o na foirne go leir.
This has been an unusual year for everybody, not just those involved in sport. Due to the
Covid-19 pandemic, training routines were interrupted and many matches were denied to
us.
However, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our Fixtures Committee, and with the
goodwill of all clubs, Clare Camogie Board have been able to stage a full championship
programme for 2020.
Today and tomorrow we have all our Adult finals being played “behind closed doors” .
But all is not lost. Due to the massive improvements in the playing surface and other
improvements in the grounds, and as there will be no spectators, both finals on Saturday
and three finals on Sunday are being played in Fr. McNamara Park.
And the Board have arranged the live streaming of all the Cup Finals free of charge over both
days by Channel Clare.
I wish all teams this weekend the very best of luck; I am confident that we will have exciting
games as all teams are well capable of serving up camogie games of superb skill and
sportsmanship.
I want to thank all the clubs that supported the recent Walk to Croke Park undertaken very
gallantly by our PRO, Brid McNamara. The funds raised are necessary to meet our ambitions
in the continued development of Fr McNamara Park.
Thanks to all our referees and their teams of officials, not just for today but for their gallant
efforts throughout the year. We recognise the dedication, time and skills you provide to
Clare Camogie.
As 2020 competitions draw to a close and we are showcasing our very best for the year, I
would like to thank all who have helped on committees, fellow officers, all county mentors
and players. Also thank you to all of our clubs; your support, co-operation and the work that
all put into the game of Camogie in Clare does not go unnoticed.
For the support we get from all the GAA clubs and the use of your facilities, we are very
grateful.
Thanks to all the sponsors of teams and Squads, your support is greatly appreciated.
Finally, thanks to our local media for the continued coverage of Clare Camogie.
