The line is an obsessively interwoven element within Bollinger’s process,
evoking psychological exploration of place, time, labor, dialogue, and topog- raphy. This Chromaticism series is an expression of Bollinger’s interdisciplinary exploration of painting through architec- tural metaphor, cinematic color palettes, and of Richard Wagner’s operas with their rich harmonies and layered orchestration that infer dramatic visual composition. Bollinger’s current process leverages col- or-grading schemes derived from film, in combination with dramatic compositional movements and deeply textured visual hierarchy. These works, bold and intricate with multifaceted detail, are intended
as a means towards dynamic color fas- cination. Using pen, collage, and digital technology, Bollinger shapes each idea into a compulsive assemblage of texture, repetition, color, and experience.
