1 Each student gave a present to the person he/she liked. Boys gave
presents to girls and girls gave presents to boys. Everyone received a
present but nobody received a present from the same person to whom
they gave their present. Find out the boy who received a present from
Kate.
Conditions
Six students gave presents: Kate, Lisa, Jenny, Thomas,
Peter, and Brian.
The boy who received a present from Jenny gave a
present to Lisa.
The girl who received a present from Peter gave a present
to Brian.
Kate and Thomas did not give presents to each other.

2 A store is giving discounts to people who shop for three products
according to the following conditions. What products do you need to
buy to receive the discount?

Conditions

The products on sale: refrigerators, washing machines,
TV s, DVD players, and telephones.
If you buy a refrigerator, you cannot buy a washing
machine.
If you buy a DVD player, you must also buy a TV.
You must buy either a telephone or washing machine, but
you cannot buy both.
You must buy two of the following three products:
refrigerators, TV s, and phones.
