History of 1 second
The Earth’s turning on its axis is called the ‘rotation of the
Earth’, while the Earth’s moving around the Sun is called the
‘revolution of the Earth’.
Rotation of the Earth Revolution of the Earth
The Earth rotates around its axis in ‘one day’, and the Earth revolves
around the Sun in ‘one year’. The revolution of the Earth takes 365 days,
which is equal to one year.
According to the Earth’s equatorial speed, the Earth’s equatorial
circumference is divided into 24 hours. Therefore, one day is of 24 hours.
Also, 1 hour is divided into 60 minutes, and 1 minute is divided into 60
seconds. Therefore, 1 hour is equal to 60 minutes, and 1 minute is equal to
60 seconds.
