Importance of Definition
When a child is born, he/she is named. For example, if someone is named Gary, everyone must call him Gary.
If everyone called him a different name, Gary would not notice whether somebody called him or not and
communication will not be possible.
In the same way, if a circle is just called round, the ambiguity of the description will make some people
consider as a circle while others might consider as a circle. The inaccuracy of such terms will cause
confusion when learning math. Mathematics is a study that is based on the fixed terms that everyone agreed
upon to follow, and explanations of the meaning of those terms are called definition. In order to succeed in
mathematics, students must accurately learn definitions and be able to follow those definitions.
