Materials: Pattern Finder board, Pattern chips, Game pieces
Find two rules to complete a pattern.
Pattern 1. Place the board in the middle of the table. Each player selects a game piece and
Finder places it on ‘Start’.
2. Spread the chips to one side. Each player observes the attributes of the pattern
chips such as shape, color, or number of balloons.
3. Each player decides on two rules and places ten pattern chips on the board in
front of him/her according to his/her rules. Use only one side of the chips and do
not show the pattern to the other player.
4. Each player takes two chips out from his/her pattern and shuffles them with the
other chips that are placed one side.
5. Each player finds the other player’s rules. Then each player places the missing
chips to complete the other player’s pattern.
6. The player earns 1 point when he/she completes the other player’s pattern first
and moves his/her game piece as many points as he/she earned to the ‘+’. If
he/she made his/her own pattern incorrectly, he/she loses 1 point.
7. Play several rounds. The player who moves his/her game piece further to the ‘+’
wins.
