Materials: Pattern Finder board, Pattern finder, Chip,
Two pattern rules activity sheet, Game pieces
Can the other player find two pattern rules in your pattern? Let’s find the
missing shape behind the chip by opening the covers as few as possible.
Pattern 1. E ach player cuts the activity sheet into the pattern cards and places them face
Finder down, then selects one game piece and places it on Start on the Pattern Finder
board.
2. Decide who will be the tagger and player. The tagger selects one his/her pattern
card and puts it into the pattern finder with all the covers closed, then places the
chip on top of the cover 9.
3. T he player opens the covers one by one in order from the cover 1 and finds the
pattern rules in the pattern. He/she opens the cover H whenever he/she wants
to find the hint.
4. The player says “Answer” when he/she guesses the shape behind the chip and
the pattern rules, then explains them.
5. Check the shape behind the chip and move the game piece as shown below.
Correctly guessed: Earn the points as many as the closed covers and move the
game piece to the ‘+’ according to the points the player earned.
Incorrectly guessed: Lose the points as many as the opened covers(except chip)
and move the game piece to the ‘-’ according to the points
the player lost.
6. Switch roles and play several rounds. The player who earns more points wins.
