Assessment is called is a tool that permit teachers to evaluate the academic learning
from students. Thus, teachers can know if student has reached the objectives proposed and if
the applied method has been successful. Assessment can be apply in written (formal) or oral
(informal) form; objective or subjective; graded or non-graded; time-bound (goal or task
measured or restricted by time) or continuing.
The purpose of assessment is to develop students learning by feedback. Teachers can
use the information recollect through test, quizzes, exams, worksheets, handouts, exams and
modify teaching plan in a constructive way according students’ needs. Thereby, teachers can
identify and clarify learning’s requirement and provide guidance and motivation for students.
Types of assessment
Summative Assessment: (Outcomes assessment)
This assessment measures the level of student learning at the end of an educational
instruction. Furthermore, it assess learner knowledge, skills and values. Thereby, teacher can
improve the curriculum in better way.
Formative Assessment:
This assessment assesses student’s learning unfold during the instruction process.
Informal Assessment:
This assessment observe, interact and motive students during the learning and
instruction. Moreover, this assessment gathers, studies and gives feedback to students in
order to clarify students’ academic doubts.
Formal Assessment:
This assessment use specific action plan to know if learners have reached the learning
outcomes.
