              You’ll Find Your Peace

                  Shadowed Within Eagles Wings

                                                                                       by Debra Ferrell

Ever since I was a child, I have always been intrigued by the beauty and serenity of the eagle. It is a bird mentioned in
the Bible many times, and it symbolizes strength, courage, great power & healing. Their incredible wing span allows
them to soar high with grace, typically without even flapping their wings. In addition, they are considered rational, and
have extraordinary sharp-eyed vision; up to eight times sharper than humans. The eagle is known to fly higher than
any other bird, therefore, I believe there is a divine connection here. Since they fly high, when they appear to us,
could it be a sign that God is pushing us to go higher and higher? I think if you are fortunate enough to encounter an
appearance of an eagle, it is an image/sign of freedom and courage, and signifies a positive outlook to look ahead
and go forth with your future. Don’t take it lightly. Look up and saturate yourself in their amazing beauty. Learn.

The eagle represents our national emblem, the bird of America, but in my opinion also a is a supernatural image of
God’s help as He carries us, protects us, and places us under His wings of protection. An eagle’s wings span can get
as long as 7 feet in length, therefore it makes sense that this is a characterization of “God’s guarding us as a whole.”
Many of the scriptures talk about the “wings and feathers” as it relates to healing and covering, which I quoted at the
end of this article. They are just a few of the many in the Bible.

With this being said, we are so blessed in the Smokies to be able to view and see these spectacular creatures as they
inhabit the area. These birds of prey are exclusively unique to North America and I consider them a special gift given
unto us from above. So the next time you happen to see an American Bald Eagle, take on a higher perspective, look
up to heaven and give God a high five! Thank Him for what He has done in your life and for the things to come.
Thank Him for giving us the eagle. A powerful and important creation that symbolizes much to do with our lives.

          Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

          Psalm 91 (NLT)
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the LORD:
          He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.

          Malachi 4:2 (NLT)
                                                                                                 [a]
2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free,
leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.
