1. SCHOOL MESSAGE
Jockey Club Ti-I College was founded in 1989 with a unique mission to develop
students’ potentials in sports/arts on top of their academic pursuit through the normal
grammar school curriculum. The school puts equal emphasis on academic achievement
and the development of students’ talent in sports/arts and ultimately achieves
whole-person education. Over the past 30 years, the school has proudly nurtured
countless graduates who shine in various sectors of our society and many of them have
become elite athletes and distinguished artists.
To fully live up to the spirit of our school motto, the school sees its essential role to
cultivate in our students the core value of “gratitude”. It’s only by being grateful and
thankful at all times that our future generations understand their obligation of
community contribution. Our students are all particularly gifted with extraordinary
talents in sports/arts, they should not only enjoy the pride of their achievements but
also utilize their talents in serving the community in the unique ways that others may
not be competent with. The school has identified such visionary goal as one of our
major concerns in the school development plan and proactively delineate
implementation programmes to make progressive steps towards the goal. It is in giving
that we are receiving and we believe that the personal growth of the students through
community contribution would be more than fruitful and rewarding.
While many typical community service activities (e.g. fund-raising activities, service
visits, etc) give a taste of “service” to students, we strive to incorporate additional
elements to these events. Fund-raising activities take the form of student-directed Fun
Fair organized annually in the Open Day with students creating their handcrafts
products by their art talents. It has almost became a norm that our art students create
mural painting during their visits to various community sites. The “Communi-arties”
group explores various ways to connect visual arts to community. The newly
established Elder Academy further engages students of various talents to deliver
sports/arts related courses to the elderly.
th
Riding on the school’s 30 Anniversary, the Overseas Expedition is the highlight
programme that best exemplified how we are dedicated to nurture and inspire our
students to contribute their strength and talents to help others. The touching stories
reported in media are the best evidences of the impacts on their personal growth and
represents the best rewards of our efforts. Embracing the profoundly positive
experience and success of the expedition, the school has planned to sustain the spirit
of serving the others and extend the target community to the developing countries in
2020. A service trip to Cambodia will depart in April. We are also actively planning the
Overseas Expedition 2.0, further extrapolating its impact on a larger circle of students.
It’s no easy task to conduct all these programmes, but our strong belief and vision
keeps driving us to do our utmost to cultivate the nurturing environment for our
students to realize and experience the pleasure of contributing to the community.
