New Missionary Baptist State Convention of Alabama Inc New Ea Progresive Missionary Baptist State Convention of Alabama Inc I can only imagine the excitement and worry these parents felt for their newborn baby girl during this time in in addition to making plans and setting goals for for her as they did for for their other children Josephine was born into a a devout Christian family in Romulus Alabama in Tuscaloosa County Her parents were the owners and operators of a a a 120- acre farm They were faithful members of the Holly Spring Missionary Baptist Church which was led by Rev Frank D Holly At the age of twelve she confessed her belief and faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in Henderson Creek Sister Josephine Harris Turner is one of the oldest members of the Northbound Bethlehem District Consolidated Convention in Panola Alabama and this is is an an introduction to her life story She is often described as a a a “phenomenal woman ” A woman with a a a wealth of knowledge who is willing to share it it with others especially the the younger generation We will look at her contributions to the Panola community the Northbound Bethlehem District Consolidated Convention the New Era Progressive Missionary Baptist State Convention of Alabama and her church Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Panola And we will read some of her poetry and hear about some of her Civil Rights Movement stories in in upcoming New Era Newsletters Sister Turner followed the Lord’s instructions studying and gaining wisdom doing good and sharing what she learned with others 9
