Other FDCC members were also present at the ceremony, which took place in the offices of FDCC Defense Counsel Paul Finamore, a partner at Pessin Katz Law, P.A. in Baltimore. In addition to being awarded a $5,000 scholarship, FDCC Defense Counsel Member Ned Currie presented Julie with a certificate that had been translated into Braille - and which Julie proudly read to all in attendance.

took a roomful of people and a pin could have dropped at her eloquence, charm and easy nature. Everyone loved it. I have had many folks from my firm thank me to letting them meet her, she was that great. You picked a winner for sure. Thank you for allowing me and my firm to host this event, it was truly special.”
The Diversity and Inclusion Initiative is one of the core values of the FDCC and the Foundation in seeking to advance persons of color, women, LGBTQI, and persons with physical limitations, as well as those who represent economic, geographic, social, ethnic, racial or religious diversity. To that end, the Foundation created the Barb Curry Diversity Scholarship. Defense Counsel member, Edward J. Currie, Jr., and Barbara, have championed diversity in the profession. The Scholarship is open to application by all diverse law students and prospective students and is made possible solely through the generous gifts and tax deductible donations of FDCC members. Help us give financial assistance to other worthy students by making a donation in any amount you wish by logging onto the Foundation’s page on the website today.
Julie’s story is a compelling one. Her personal statement, which accompanied the scholarship application is provided below. Please join us in congratulating her!
