  Officer Reports
The Federation has thrived in the virtual space and, as we regain the opportunity for in-person meetings in 2021, we will find the best formula for integrating the virtual environment into what will be our new normal.
the virtual space with enthusiasm, creativity and strong desire to stay connected. Time will tell, but it
is likely that we have established
a new normal for the Federation, not to the extent that we do not treasure our in-person meetings, but it is undeniable that the virtual environment provides an opportunity for greater efficiency in remaining connected between meetings. We will continue
to explore the opportunities presented going forward and we welcome your input and participation.
In case you were not aware, the quality of our programs has
been outstanding. Many thanks
to all of our presenters and the incredible leadership by those
that coordinated the programs. From March 2020 through June 2021, the Federation hosted 19,922 individuals in 411 virtual events for
an average of 49.5 attendees per event. Even in the virtual space, the Federation succeeding in being the inspired community of vetted defense counsel, exceptional leaders and even better people.
We have maintained our standard of excellence in our programming and, with outstanding coordination by our Executive Director Bernie Heinze and our entire team at FDCC Headquarters, we have managed to provide something for everyone. Many of our programs have been educational. Some have been inspirational and others were just for fun. Do not forget to take advantage of the “On Demand” section of our website to enjoy
any programming that you may have missed when it was originally scheduled.
The Federation has thrived in the virtual space and, as we regain
the opportunity for in-person meetings in 2021, we will find the best formula for integrating the virtual environment into what
will be our new normal. We are studying how best to integrate virtual programming in an effort to strike the right balance with
our in-person meetings. We welcome your participation in that discussion. We are committed to enhancing the value proposition of membership for all as we emerge from the pandemic, but we will take advantage of the opportunity
and efficiency provided by the virtual environment.
I invite all of you, including and perhaps especially our newer members to get involved. For those new to the process, President-Elect Bob Christie will begin to make
his appointments very soon. If you wish to be considered for a leadership position or wish to simply get involved, contact Bob or one of the Board members to find out how. For those of you that have been involved, please consider elevating your game by running for the Board of Directors. Candidates for the Board can declare at
any time prior to the elections
in August, but commit early so
that your name and leadership summary can be made available on the website and in the next edition of the Flyer. It is not too early to start thinking about what you hope to accomplish in the Federation. Do not hesitate to reach out to an officer or Board member to discuss your future in the Federation because opportunity abounds, personally and professionally.
Please remain safe and healthy in this year of continued evolution
as we celebrate this 85th year of the Federation’s success. We will see you all soon – and hopefully, at The Greenbrier Resort for our Summer Meeting on August 1st to the 7th, 2021 in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
