Stay tuned for more information on the date and details on the 2026 FedTech U
to secure your Technology Master Advocate certification!
The FedTech U course will
also discuss the newest app
from LitSuite, Timeline Pad.
TimelinePad allows civil defense
attorneys to create powerful,
visually compelling timelines that
align with the facts, the theme, and
the legal strategy. In civil defense
litigation, the lawyer who better
presents a chronology of events
often will make a better showing.
Whether the case involves litigating
a premises case involving notice, a
medical causation case involving
timely treatment, or a product
liability matter involving product
alterations by a plaintiff over time,
creating a clear, credible timeline
makes TimelinePad for iPad useful
for FDCC lawyers. The goal of
FedTech U will be to demonstrate
how FDCC members can use
TimelinePad to create powerful,
visually compelling timelines that
align with the facts, the theme, and
the legal strategy. Fed Tech U will
focus on giving hands-on training
in the features of TimelinePad,
with a strong focus on courtroom
application, mediation/settlement
conference application/ strategic
communication, such as case
strategy sessions, and case
organization.
Modern civil defense work
demands more than just reading
documents--it requires mastering
them. Whether preparing for a Rule
702 motion, dissecting a medical
record, or annotating expert reports,
defense lawyers must absorb and
analyze thousands of pages across
pleadings, transcripts, discovery,
and case law. FedTech U will
discuss uploading and organizing
entire case files, including
pleadings, discovery responses,
deposition transcripts, medical
records, and research memos, into
a single workspace.
FedTech U will also address
unique insights and perspectives
on notetaking on the iPad Pro.
The course will introduce FDCC
lawyers to Notability’s powerful
features and demonstrate how it
can streamline trial prep, enhance
case organization, and improve
communication with clients,
experts, and co-counsel. This
course teaches attorneys how to use
Notability to transform handwritten
notes, audio recordings, and PDFs
into an organized and searchable
knowledge base that strengthens
your litigation practice.
While this course will center
on practical presentation
technologies that can be used
in trials, mediations, and
hearings, it will also introduce
participants to the emerging
role of artificial intelligence in
modern legal practice. The next
FedTech U will not be a 100% AI-
exclusive course. Still, it will offer
thoughtful, accessible guidance
on how civil defense lawyers can
responsibly incorporate AI tools
into their workflow. Participants
will learn to use AI-enabled
platforms to generate visual aids,
demonstratives, and graphics to
further bring out case themes and
theories.
The course will demonstrate how
native iPad functions, such as
screen recording, screenshots,
markup tools, and split-screen
multitasking, can be leveraged to
build persuasive demonstrative
aids quickly, highlight portions of
medical records or accident reports,
and capture annotated images for
use as demonstratives. These built-
in features allow defense attorneys
to create compelling visuals on the
fly without graphic designers or
complex software.
Please consider attending the 2026
weekend edition of FedTech U.
It offers a unique opportunity for
civil defense attorneys to elevate
their trial and litigation skills by
integrating technology, specifically
the iPad Pro, into daily law practice.
Attendees will learn how to deliver
persuasive and visually impactful
presentations using apps such as
TrialPad and other tools designed
to become organized at the highest
levels. FedTech U’s ultimate goal is
to give FDCC members a strategic
edge by integrating technology into
law practice.
Jimmy Wilkins is the Chair of the FDCC’s
Evolve Tech U Committee and a Member
